Commissioner Sarah Adelman and Public Officials Tour STRIVE Day Program
Sarah Adelman, Commissioner of Human Services for the State of New Jersey, along with public officials from the community, county and state, toured STRIVE day program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Also in attendance were members of the agency’s Board of Trustees Jennifer Cope, M.D. and Kathie Schwartz, as well as Terry Aschoff and Barbara Wasserman, whose adult children attend STRIVE.
After meeting with members of STRIVE, the attendees gathered with agency staff to learn about the impact of the agency’s programs on the community. “All of us at Children’s Aid and Family Services are grateful for the support from and partnership with these public leaders,” said Shavonda E. Sumter, President and CEO. “We rely on their support to provide exceptional services to those we serve.”
In addition to Commissioner Adelman, officials in attendance were: Kaylee McGuire, Deputy Commissioner for Aging and Disability Services, DHS; Jonathan Chebra, Chief of Staff, DHS; Jonathan Seifried, Assistant Commissioner, Division of Developmental Disabilities; Paul Aronsohn, New Jersey Statewide Ombudsman for Individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities and Their Families; Mark Musella, Bergen County Prosecutor; Elizabeth Rebein, Assistant Prosecutor, Chief, Community Affairs Unit, Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office; Melissa DeBartolo, Esq. Bergen County Department of Human Services; Anika Davis, Division Director, Bergen County Department of Human Services, Division of Disability Services; Tracy Zur, Bergen County Commissioner Chairwoman; Thomas Sullivan, Vice Chairman Commissioner; Mary Amoroso, Bergen County Commissioner; and Germaine Ortiz, Bergen County Commissioner.
