On Tuesday, July 25th Zoe’s Place the New Mother’s support group transformed Zoe’s Place into a yoga studio with special guest (and local yogi) Kashima Redding leading a Mommy & Me Yoga class. Postnatal yoga severs is a wonderful way for new moms to not only exercise but also provides stress relief. Through gentle movements and mindful breathing, yoga can help boost abdominal strength and activate the pelvic floor muscles, which aids recovery from giving birth. For several of the Zoe’s Place residents, this was their first time doing yoga, and they enjoyed the opportunity to try something new.

The support group is co-facillitated by Yvelisse Gonzalez, MSW, LSW

Perinatal Mental Health Coordinator, Postpartum Depression Program

Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern New Jersey, Jenny Stratton (CAFS Lewis Hine Fellow) and a peer mentor past resident of Zoe’s Place.
