Stop and Shop Donates 20,000 Diapers to Baby Basics
DIAPER NEED, the struggle to provide babies with clean, dry diapers, negatively impacts children’s health, parents’ mental well-being, and families’ economic stability. In support of National Diaper Need Awareness Week, Stop & Shop donated 20,000 diapers to Baby Basics during a special event on Wednesday, September 28, at its Ridgewood, N.J. store. The event also helped kick off a two-day (September 30 – October 1) diaper drive at the store. A special thank you to Stop and Shop for recognizing this vital need and helping to bring awareness to our communities.
Baby Basics provides free nutritional formula and diapers to low-income families and their babies, newborn through two years of age, in Bergen, Essex, and Passaic Counties, along with a safety net of emotional support and referrals. The program, which helped more than 500 families in need and distributed more than 350,000 diapers in 2021, is fully funded through the generosity of donors in the community. A partnership with the National Diaper Bank enables Children’s Aid to access high quality diapers at a reasonable cost.
