Mobility Mentoring – Helping Foster Youth

Several participants in our Mobility Mentoring program gathered at Children’s Aid for a fun holiday party. Members of the Woodlea Council, a group of dedicated community volunteers, were also in attendance, engaging with the participants and playing with the program graduates’ children. Most participants juggle a full school and work schedule, so the party was a wonderful opportunity for them to relax and get to know each other.

Mobility Mentoring is a five-year program designed to help support aged-out foster youth entering adulthood by equipping them with essential life skills. It is fully funded by the generosity of our supporters. These are critical years of transition to adulthood, and this program provides one-on-one mentoring, tools, and support to help participants create self-sufficiency and reach their life goals.

In 2024, there were 16 mentees in Mobility Mentoring and they are thriving.

  • 100% have a bank or financial account
  • 94% are enrolled in school or working
  • 62% are pursuing higher education, college degrees or training certifications
  • 12% have earned their bachelor’s degrees (Less than 3% of youth with a history of foster care earn a four-year degree, according to the National Foster Youth Institute).
