Celebrating Social Emotional Learning Week

Our CAFS SEL Committee brought the energy during SEL Week, organizing events, creating resources, and spreading the message far and wide. This year’s theme was “Skills for Community, Skills for Career.”

The team developed SEL resource lists for social media and handouts, featuring books for different age groups and online resources for teachers and parents. They also shared SEL programming in schools, libraries, and through agency mailing lists.

SEL truly spans all stages of life. Our planning team reflected this by including members who work with PreK-12 students, higher education, parents/caregivers, school and county administrators, community partners, and older adults.

In the office, staff enjoyed an SEL-themed space tied to Women’s History Month and participated in two in-person events: a mindful moment workshop and a calming arts activity. Many also joined the national SEL4US SEL Day Summit on March 2, choosing from a variety of virtual workshops during the eight-hour event.

These activities served as a great reminder that social and emotional learning is at the heart of our alcohol and drug prevention efforts.
