Volunteering

Give for a day. Help for a lifetime.

Volunteers all have one thing in common.
They know that helping others is as rewarding for the volunteer as it is for the recipient. The very act of getting involved, on whatever level is comfortable for the volunteer, is the first step toward a fulfilling experience that enriches our communities and the lives of the many people in need who live alongside us.

We offer a wide variety of volunteer opportunities – from mentoring young people to working in a unique gift and craft store, from handling mailings to assisting with child care, from preparing meals to organizing community drives.

As one of the largest and oldest regional non-profit human services organizations serving northern New Jersey, Children's Aid and Family Services is in the unique position of providing a wide range of programs, services and resources for children, families and adults in need.

We have more than 250 employees and we are fortunate to have the help of hundreds of community volunteers. There is always a need for qualified foster families, mentors and adoptive parents to help care for the vulnerable children in our care. We provide intensive training and a strong support system for families and individuals who work with the children in our programs.

We value the contributions of each volunteer and, once a year, our volunteer appreciation evening honors these giving individuals. Perhaps you have an idea we haven’t thought of.

If you are interested in volunteering, please call Karen Winick, Volunteer & Community Relations Manager at (201) 261-2800 X222 or email her.
