Children’s Aid and Family Services’ Baby Basics program recently received a $10,000 donation from the CME Group Community Foundation. The program provides free nutritional formula and diapers to low-income families that are living or working in Bergen County.

In order to work, it is crucial for parents to have an adequate supply of diapers, as most childcare centers require parents to supply diapers. If parents can’t access childcare providers, they are less likely to be able to work, thus perpetuating a cycle of poverty. In 2017, Baby Basics served 133 families and 100% of families surveyed reported that the Baby Basics program had improved their lives.

“A shortage of diapers can also cause health problems for infants, such as diaper rash,” says Joanne Mandry, President & CEO of Children’s Aid and Family Services. “Baby Basics fills a critical need for low-income families. We are extremely grateful to CME Group Community Foundation for its generous support of this vital program.”
