(Paramus, NJ) – June 14, 2016 – Children’s Aid and Family Services recently received a grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Tri-State Area in the amount of $7,000. The grant will be used to provide therapeutic horseback riding lessons for children in the agency’s therapeutic foster care. Equine-assisted therapy helps vulnerable children to build confidence, trust, improve socialization and communication and learn to better control their emotions.
“The children in our care have been severely abused and traumatized, and they have great difficulty trusting others,” says Jerry Binney, President & CEO of Children’s Aid and Family Services. “Therapeutic equine lessons help them to form attachments and learn responsibility, which is a huge help to their healing. We are extremely grateful for this generous grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Tri-State Area and the difference it will make in our children’s lives.”
“The use of therapeutic horseback riding instruction has been demonstrably proven to be beneficial to the continued development of vulnerable children,” said Christopher Perry, Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Tri-State Area’s Executive Director. “In keeping with our organization’s Mission of supporting programs that directly improve the well-being of children, we are proud to support Children’s Aid & Family Services and the children it serves through its therapeutic horseback riding program.”
