Junior League of Bergen County donates diapers to the Baby Basics program
(Paramus, NJ) April 18, 2014 – Children’s Aid and Family Services’ Baby Basics program relies on community support to provide free nutritional formula and diapers to low-income families with children ages newborn through 2 years. The agency recently received a donation of diapers from the 2013 Junior League of Bergen County provisional class, led by chair Laura Kelly.
The provisional class collected diapers through a variety of channels, including holding diaper drives at local grocery stores. The diaper drive was also supported at the JLBC’s Festival of Trees fall fundraiser.
“When parents can’t afford diapers, babies wear dirty diapers longer,” says Bob Jones, President & CEO of Children’s Aid and Family Services. “The need for diapers is great in the current economy as diaper rash is increasing across the county. The Baby Basics program distributes more than 200,000 diapers every year and offers a desperately needed safety net to families that helps ensure their babies remain healthy and well-nourished. We couldn’t provide this vital support without the generous contributions of the Junior League of Bergen County. We are enormously grateful for their support.”
