Services for Families Caring for Loved Ones

Kinship caregivers are people who have taken on the responsibility of caring for their relatives’ children. These children might be the caregiver’s siblings, nieces, nephews, or, most often, grandchildren.  In 2017, 32 percent of all children in foster care were staying in the home of a relative.

At Children’s Aid and Family Services we provide for kinship families:

KinKonnect

The New Jersey Kinship Legal Guardianship Resource Clearing House (KinKonnect) is a web-based service that is devoted to families that have been formed through kinship in the state of New Jersey. KinKonnect is an information center for Kinship Legal Guardianship families that provides information, advocacy, support, education and resource services. Services are provided via the KinKonnect website. Our toll-free Warm Line is 877- KLG-LINE or 877-554-5463.

Whether you need help with kinship care issues, have questions about the process of obtaining Kinship Legal Guardianship (KLG), need a grandparent support group and/or just had a difficult day with the children you are caring for, you will receive a supportive reception when you call KinKonnect. The warm line team members provide telephone consultation and are happy to direct you to the services you need for you, and / or your family. Both English and Spanish speaking representatives are available. The Warm Line is staffed 40 hours per week. Leave a message anytime and your call will be returned within one business day.
